The Not So Proactive GP

Myself and anxiety are very well acquainted never mind all this cancer crap. I’d shown ’lenny’ to my mum, my best friends and boyfriend and got the usual comments of ’I’m sure it’s nothing’ ‘don’t worry about it’ and to be fair I was on board with this. I was more nervous about having to get my boobs out in front of a random doctor.
The GP’s responce was let’s just say… abit sh**. I was told ’Lenny’ was definitely there but probably nothing and she would usually tell me to wait another 4 weeks to see if it’s still there. THANK GOD I DIDN’T DO THAT. She then said ’well you work on a cancer ward so I’m sure you’d like your mind at rest so I’m happy to refer you for a cancer screen if you want but it’s up to you’. YES, if it’s offered to you absolutely run with it! If I had turned this down and trusted her judgment I may be in a very different position right now- trust your gut! After a 2 week wait I had an appointment confirmed at the breast clinic for the 27th October.
Positive- Listen to your body, if something doesn’t feel right it probably isn’t! See your GP and be persistent.
